ಮೇಕಿಂಗ್ ಚಾರ್ಜ್: ಅಂಗಡಿಯಿಂದ ಅಂಗಡಿಗೆ ಬೇರೆ

ಮೇಕಿಂಗ್ ಚಾರ್ಜ್ ಎಷ್ಟು (% ಅಥವಾ ಗ್ರಾಂಗೆ ₹), ಡಿಸೈನ್‌ಗೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಬದಲಾಗುತ್ತೆ. ಖರೀದಿಗೆ ಮುಂಚೆ ಬರೆದು ಕೊಡಿ ಅಂತ ಕೇಳಿ, 2–3 ಅಂಗಡಿ ಹೋಲಿಸಿ. ಸ್ಟೋನ್/ವೇಸ್ಟೇಜ್ ಇದ್ರೆ ಅದನ್ನೂ ಬೇರೆಯಾಗಿ ಕೇಳಿ.
Making charges differ by shop and design (a % or ₹ per gram). Ask for the figure in writing before you buy and compare 2–3 shops. If stones or "wastage" are added, ask for each separately.

GST 3%: ಮೇಕಿಂಗ್ ಸೇರಿ ಒಟ್ಟು ಮೊತ್ತಕ್ಕೆ

ಅಂಗಡಿಯಿಂದ ಆಭರಣ ಕೊಂಡ್ರೆ, ಮೇಕಿಂಗ್ ಚಾರ್ಜ್ ಬೇರೆ ತೋರಿಸಲಿ ಬಿಡಲಿ, ಒಟ್ಟು ಮೊತ್ತದ ಮೇಲೆ GST 3% (ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದೊಳಗೆ 1.5% CGST + 1.5% SGST). ಮೇಕಿಂಗ್‌ಗೆ ಬೇರೆಯಾಗಿ 5% ಹಾಕಿದ್ರೆ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಮಾಡಿ.
CBIC / GST Council FAQ (Gems & Jewellery, Q7): "GST is payable at the rate of 3% of the total transaction value of jewellery, whether the making charge is shown separately or not." The 3% rate continues after the Sept 2025 rate changes (IGST rate notification 9/2025, Schedule IV). Note: 5% applies to job work on gold you give the goldsmith yourself, which is a different case.

ಮೂರು ಗುರುತು: BIS + 22K916 + 6 ಅಕ್ಷರದ HUID

ಹಾಲ್‌ಮಾರ್ಕ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ 3 ಗುರುತು: BIS ಗುರುತು, ಶುದ್ಧತೆ (ಉದಾ: 22K916 = 91.6% ಚಿನ್ನ; 18K750 = 75%), ಮತ್ತು 6 ಅಕ್ಷರದ HUID ಕೋಡ್. BIS Care ಆಪ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ "Verify HUID" ನಲ್ಲಿ ಚೆಕ್ ಮಾಡಿ.
Hallmark = BIS mark + purity in carat and fineness + a 6-digit alphanumeric HUID (PIB, 30 Mar 2023). Since 1 April 2023 BIS-registered jewellers may sell only HUID-hallmarked jewellery. Gold grades under IS 1417: 9K 375, 14K 585, 18K 750, 20K 833, 22K 916, 23K 958, 24KS 995 (BIS).

ಶುದ್ಧತೆ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಇದ್ರೆ? BIS ಮಾನ್ಯತೆಯ ಹಾಲ್‌ಮಾರ್ಕಿಂಗ್ ಸೆಂಟರ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಟೆಸ್ಟ್ ಮಾಡಿಸಬಹುದು; ಹಾಲ್‌ಮಾರ್ಕ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಇದ್ರೆ, ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸದ 2 ಪಟ್ಟು + ಟೆಸ್ಟ್ ಚಾರ್ಜ್ ಪರಿಹಾರ.
BIS Consumer Protection: you can get jewellery tested at any BIS-recognised Assaying & Hallmarking Centre; if hallmarked jewellery is found below the marked purity, compensation is two times the difference (for the shortage in purity, for that weight) plus the testing charges.

ಬಿಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಏನು ಇರಬೇಕು?

✅ ತೂಕ (net weight)   ✅ ಕ್ಯಾರೆಟ್/ಶುದ್ಧತೆ   ✅ ಹಾಲ್‌ಮಾರ್ಕ್ ಚಾರ್ಜ್: ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಬರೆದಿರಬೇಕು. 22K ಆಭರಣಕ್ಕೆ 22K ರೇಟ್ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದಾರಾ (24K ರೇಟ್ ಅಲ್ಲ) ನೋಡಿ. ಮುಂದೆ ಎಕ್ಸ್‌ಚೇಂಜ್/ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಾಡಿದ್ರೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಕಡಿತ (deduction) ಅಂತ ಈಗಲೇ ಕೇಳಿ, ಬಿಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಸಿ.
BIS: sale invoices must show the article description, net precious-metal weight, purity/caratage & fineness and the hallmarking charge separately, and say the buyer can get purity checked at any BIS-recognised centre. Check a 22K jewel is billed at the 22K rate, not the 24K rate. Exchange/buy-back deductions are each jeweller's own policy (no official rate): ask now and get it written.
